Critical Art and Media Practices is an organisation supporting new art and media forms in India. It is a registered non-profit Trust that supports
a number of local and regional cultural initiatives:
- Pad.ma: Public Access Digital Media Archive. An online repository of open source video material freely available for research and use. Established February 2007, ongoing.
- Indiancine.ma: An online encyclopedia of all of Indian Cinema, in various languages. Established March 2013, ongoing.
- R and R. Sunehri Chatt ke neeche, Nile Darwaze ke Peeche. A community library and cultural space in Lallubhai Compound, Mumbai, ongoing since March 2016.
- Plus regular artists workshops, reviews of experimental and new-media artistic projects, and hands-on workshops on the use of technology in art today.
Founded in November 2007, Critical Art and Media Practices is currently registered under the Foreign Currency Regulation Act, Govt of India, and is a charity with 12A and 80G tax exempt certification.
It is currently supported by grants and donations, and by contributions from its members.
Previously it has been supported by project grants from the Goethe Institut, Zurich University for the Arts, the European Research Council, the Foundation for Arts Initiatives, and the Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust.
